Tony Rand
Tony Rand (September 1, 1939–May 1, 2020) was a Democratic member of the North Carolina State Senate, representing District 19. He resigned on December 31, 2009.[1] Rand died on May 1, 2020.[2]
Education
Rand earned his B.A. in political science from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill in 1961. He went on to receive his J.D. from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill School of Law in 1964.
Professional experience
Rand was an attorney of Secretary and Counsel at Lithotripters Incorporated from 1989 to 1996. He then worked as a Consultant for Prime Medical Services from 1996 to 2000. He was President of Rand and Gregory, Practicing Attorneys, from 1993 until his death. He has also been a Consultant for Sonorex Incorporated since 2001.
Political experience
Rand was appointed to the North Carolina State Senate in 1981. He was also a delegate at the Democratic National Convention in 1992. He became Senate Majority Leader in 2001. He has served in that position, representing the 19th District, until his resignation on December 31, 2009.
