Campaign themes

2014

Wagner's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[2]

Transportation

  • Excerpt: "I believe an 'AND' solution is required. A combination of efficiency targets for MNDOT, innovative financing, and funding that recognizes the rising cost of building & maintaining our infrastructure will be the long term solution that the business community, residents, and legislators on both sides of the aisle can support."

Environmental Stewardship

  • Excerpt: "With this proven record, you have my commitment that I will continue to place stewardship of the environment as a key priority -- supporting the strong alternative energy legislation that the state has passed, working to improve the quality of our water, and protect our key natural resources."

Economic Development (& jobs!)

  • Excerpt: "I have experience in improving our communities as both a business leader and public servant, and – with your support -- I’ll take both the above principles and experience in what truly impacts local communities to the legislature and make a positive impact on Minnesota, including expansion of program such as the Angel Tax Credit, those supporting small businesses, and expansion programs through DEED!"

Responsive to Constituents

  • Excerpt: "Constituent service and advocacy is a key part of the role as a public servant. As a council member, I’ve worked hard to serve residents of my ward while balancing the city’s long term needs and plans; and as a business leader, I place a high priority on employee communications and interaction to improve employee engagement and retention."
