Tony Wilkins was a member of the Greensboro City Council in North Carolina, representing District 5. He assumed office in 2012. He left office in 2017.

Wilkins ran for election to the Greensboro City Council to represent District 5 in North Carolina. He lost in the general election on July 26, 2022.

Wilkins was appointed by the Greensboro City Council in 2012 to fill the vacancy created by the election of Trudy Wade to the North Carolina State Senate. He lost a re-election campaign in the general election on November 7, 2017.[1]

Although city council elections in Greensboro are officially nonpartisan, Wilkins has served as the executive director of the Guilford County Republican Party.[2]

At the time of his 2017 run for re-election, Wilkins was retired from his position as the owner of a local retail business. His experience also includes service as a War Memorial commissioner and as the executive director of the Guilford County Republican Party.[2]

Greensboro, North Carolina, held a general election for mayor and all eight seats on the city council on November 7, 2017. A primary election was held on October 10, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was July 21, 2017.[3][4] Tammi Thurm defeated incumbent Tony Wilkins in the general election for the District 5 seat on the Greensboro City Council.[5]

By filing for candidacy I pledge to continue to pursue fiscal responsibility and transparency in City government. Less government regulations and a lower tax rate will attract business.

I pledge to continue to seek adequate funding for the men and women who put their lives on the line everyday for our safety. Their desire to keep us safe in our homes will never be matched by adequate compensation. Thank a First Responder today.

I have been appointed by the Mayor to serve on the Audit Committee and the Economic Development Committee. I pledge to continue to keep Economic Development and jobs as a high priority.
