Biography
Tonya Rolland McLaughlin earned a bachelor's degree from Texas State University in 2003 and a J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 2006.[1][2]

McLaughlin ran for election to the Harris County Criminal Court at Law.
Primary: She was successful in the Republican primary on March 4, 2014, receiving 29.0 percent of the vote. She competed against Mary Heafner, Ken Wenzel and Dan Jeffrey Spjut.
Runoff: Because no candidate received more than 50% of the vote, McLaughlin faced Spjut in a runoff election on May 27, 2014. She was defeated, earning 41.0% of the vote.
