An effort to recall four members of the town council, John Bach, Mark Martin, Sheila Bell, and Charlie Blalock, did not go to a vote in Oak Island, North Carolina.[1][2]
Recall supporters
Organizers initiated the recall effort after the four officials voted in favor of implementing a paid beach parking system. Supporters of the recall included residents Gail and Glenn Baker, Colleen Zigler, George Graves, and Debbie Lovely.[1][3]

Organizers served the four officials with recall paperwork on January 26, 2023.[3]
For a recall election to have been scheduled, organizers needed to collect signatures from 25% of registered voters in Oak Island, or 2,050 signatures. They had until February 27, 2023, to submit them, but ended the recall effort in advance of the deadline after collecting about 580 signatures.[1][2]
