A Town of Palisade Retail Marijuana Legalization, Measure 2A ballot question was on the November 4, 2014 election ballot for voters in the town of Palisade in Mesa County, Colorado. It was defeated by just six votes.
If approved, Measure 2A would have made it legal according to town law to operate retail marijuana establishments, including retail marijuana cultivation facilities, marijuana product manufacturing facilities, testing facilities and marijuana stores.[1]
A ballot question called Measure 2B was also on the ballot and asked voters to approve an additional city sales tax on retail marijuana in the city.[2]

Ballot mix up
According to reports, more than 100 ballots were mailed to city residents without including either Measure 2A or Measure 2B, while some ballots sent to residents outside of city limits did feature the questions. The Mesa County Elections office is working to remedy the error. Donna Ross, chief deputy of the Mesa County Clerk and Recorder's office said, “We are confident that anyone who is eligible to vote on the questions will have an opportunity to do so."[2]
Jesse and Desa Loughman, owners of Colorado Alternative Health Care, were unconvinced. Loughman said, “We want to know why it happened. We were told it was a printer error ... Even to this point, it seems the election office doesn’t take this as a very big deal. It’s hard to have confidence in the election now.”[2]
Whether the error was corrected or not, the problem was expected to potentially cause doubt in the minds of voters if the results for Measure 2A, especially since the margin between "yes" and "no" votes was so small.[2]
