Townsend McNitt is a consultant with experience in education policy. McNitt was also a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team, a group of advisors tasked with recommending presidential appointments for the incoming administration.[2]
Career
Early career
Five years after graduating law school at Notre Dame, Townsend McNitt served as an administrative assistant and counsel to U.S. Senator Judd Gregg (R-N.H.) from 1998 to 2000.[3][4]
Senate appointments
In 2001, McNitt was appointed special assistant to President George W. Bush for Legislative Affairs for the U.S. Senate.[4] A year later, McNitt served as staff director for the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.[1]
Department of Education
By 2005, McNitt had taken up the position of consultant with the U.S. Department of Education. She remained in that role until 2007, when she became the deputy chief of staff for the department.[1][2]

In 2007, McNitt began her own consulting firm where she specializes in government relations.[1]
Donald Trump presidential transition team, 2016-2017
McNitt was a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team in his first presidential term.
