Tracy is an extraordinary volunteer and tireless advocate for Texas Children with decades of experience serving our community.

Tracy has served as a Coppell ISD School Board Trustee since 2012 and has been an active community volunteer at the local, regional, and state levels for 25 years. She is committed to making public education in Texas a priority. Tracy will stand up for all Texas kids and their parents, strive for educational excellence and keep designated Texas public school funds in Texas. She respects high-quality educators and believes the current exodus of teachers is a big issue in public education.

Her business background includes strategic and tactical leadership roles -- Supply Chain Management at Frito Lay, and HR, Marketing, Customer Service, and Operations at LSG Sky Chefs. She led large teams and developed and trained management, including C-Suite levels. Significant organizational experiences developed the transformational leadership skills that drive her education advocacy and community service.

Tracy is a native Texan and devoted military daughter with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Nebraska. She and her husband have lived in North Texas for over 30 years. They have two public school-educated engineer sons, a daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren.
  • Tracy's EXPERIENCE matters! Tracy is the experienced and fiscally responsible candidate in this race. A high-quality education system is essential for our economic growth and the productive lives of all Texans. We must get this right for our kids, parents, educators, and communities.
  • YOUR Kids matter! Together, let's make our local neighborhood schools a Texas PRIORITY! With your help in November, we can ensure Texas schools are safe, supportive, and engaging places to learn for ALL children. They need to be prepared for life after graduation, whether in the workforce, a trade school, college, or the military. Tracy knows firsthand that parent and community support are essential for our kids to soar!
  • Our Educators matter! Schools where educators are respected and valued, will always perform best. We must promote deep learning over "test-taking." Educators also need built-in professional development, a professional wage, a "grow mindset" evaluation process, and flexibility in instructional material selection.
Tracy cares about public education policy because Texas kids, parents, educators, and communities deserve better. As the only candidate with extensive experience and state-wide education advocacy awards, she knows how Texas public education currently works and how to navigate the bureaucracy.

She believes we have a responsibility to make education more relevant. The world is constantly changing; the Texas Public Education System needs to meet this challenge. We have needlessly over-tested our children for too long. Working with parents and communities, she will help develop a system that attracts professional educators that teach versus just test.

Tracy’s service on the Coppell ISD School board has included President and Vice President roles and state-level experience. She has served as a School Board Legislative Advisory Council member since 2013 and on the Legislative Committee for seven years, an elected position at the state level. Tracy has testified at the legislature and before the SBOE. Tracy is a Master Trustee, has completed additional board education training hours, and toured schools across Texas. She knows the issues and what school can be to meet our needs.
The role of an SBOE member is a volunteer. The SBOE makes many important decisions about our children's education. The characteristics Tracy believes are the most important for an elected official to have are:

Honesty (be truthful),
Integrity (both FISCAL and moral),
Selflessness (history of volunteering),
Leadership (be purposeful),
Accountability (be transparent and do the right thing),
Openness (be a learner), and

Objectivity (be thoughtful).
Tracy’s knowledge and experience give her the wisdom to ensure an excellent education system for all Texas kids. She has continued to be recognized at the state level in various capacities for her work in education. She is respected among her peers across the state for her leadership advocacy work, as demonstrated by her awards. She has organized parents to work for the betterment of educational excellence in her local community, other communities, and the state. Tracy is not beholden to campaign contributions from outside PACs or privatizers. She is fiscally responsible, not only personally but also as a school board trustee and supply chain leader. Tracy was elected to her local school board four times and has 25 years of experience advocating within the TEXAS public school system as a parent, community volunteer, and legislative liaison. She will continue to work with you to ensure high-quality public education.
Besides babysitting early on, Tracy's first job was working in a Stars and Stripes Bookstore on Chievres Air Force Base in Belgium. She was fifteen and loved having access to more books! Tracy only held the position for about a year because her dad transferred to Offutt AFB in Nebraska.
The SBOE has several essential responsibilities. Tracy believes the most important ones are adopting curriculum standards, oversight of the Texas Permanent School Fund (nearly $50 Billion), adopting instructional materials, approving the educator certification process, and reviewing proposed new charter schools with veto power. While the SBOE is not involved in expanding charters, Tracy believes it should be. A poor-performing charter school should not get to expand to other communities. That hurts kids and wastes taxpayer dollars.
Tracy believes it is beneficial for State Board of Education members to have previous governance experience. Governance is a role, not an "agenda." Politics don't belong in our public schools. The SBOE must work with 14 other individuals on the board and in working committees for the best interest of ALL the children of Texas.

Tracy sees the need to collaborate and do her homework. There are a lot of public monies involved in this role. Care and oversight are critical - a HISTORY of integrity, transparency, and honesty are essential.
Tracy believes it is most helpful for holders of the SBOE office to have experience in the Texas public education system and be fiscally responsible. Specifically:

Experience effectively managing a large budget and personal finances,
Personal experience as a PARENT in Texas Public Schools,
Texas curriculum experience,
Experience with the needs of all children,
Previous governance experience working with others for the public good,
Knowledge of Texas,
Knowledge and understanding of the role of a Texas educator,
Knowledge and relationships with the Texas Workforce and Business partnerships,
Knowledge and relationships with University professors and programs,
Understanding the importance of Career and Technical Education to Texans,
Knowledge of the role of the legislature,
Knowledge of the role of the Texas Education Agency, and

Extensive advocacy experience.
