  • As the world of education evolves, so too must our district. Not only do students face new academic challenges, they face a rapidly changing society. I believe in modernizing our approach to student learning, ensuring that students are engaged and prepared for their future beyond TUSD.
  • Student success is not a one-size-fits-all model. I know that from early education, to high school, and into college or career readiness, our district must provide clear, well-supported pathways to success that recognize students' diverse strengths, interests, and needs. This includes offering rigorous academic options, meaningful career and technical education, and access to counseling and resources that help students navigate each stage of their academic journey.
  • I understands that increasing enrollment and keeping students in class requires more than just encouraging attendance, it demands a commitment to creating learning environments where students and staff feel supported. I believe in having physically safe schools, equipped with updated materials, and staffed with enough counselors, teachers, and support personnel to meet students’ academic and emotional needs.
I am interested in policy that will transcend the barriers students our face. This means implementing strategies that ensure all students have the necessary opportunities and resources they in order to be successful.
Being raised by a single mother, I watched my mom work multiple jobs to take care of me and my siblings. Despite facing hardship, she has always carried herself with respect and acted with compassion. She cares deeply about the people she loves and works hard to provide for them. She will always be my hero.
The most important characteristics for an elected official are a strong work ethic, honesty, integrity, and compassion. If the people have placed their trust in a leader, it is that leader’s responsibility to be honest with their community and to act with integrity and compassion. They must also work tirelessly to ensure the well-being of their constituents.
- Jonathan Rothschild, Former Mayor of Tucson
