Trial date set for man accused of killing officers

JUNEAU, Alaska: The trial date has been set for the 46-year-old John Nick Marvin Jr. who will face charges of two counts of first-degree murder and weapons misconduct.
Authorities claim Marvin gunned down two police officers as they spoke together on the street in front of Marvin's home. Thereafter he barricaded himself inside his home in a standoff with authorities before surrendering about 36 hours after the shooting.
The trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 17, 2011 and Marvin has pleaded not guilty.[1]
