A cannabis tax measure was on the ballot for voters in Trinity County, California, on March 3, 2020.[1] It was defeated.

A "yes" vote supported levying: a cannabis cultivation tax of $0.85 per square for cultivation areas that are 2500 square feet or less; a cannabis cultivation tax of $1.45 per square foot for cultivation areas that are 2501 square feet or greater; a gross proceeds tax of 7 percent on the manufacturing of cultivated cannabis; and a gross proceeds tax of 7 percent on medicinal or legal cannabis storefronts and collectives.

Ballot question

The ballot question was as follows:[1]

Shall the Ordinance establishing a cannabis cultivation tax of $0.85 per square foot for 2500 square feet or less of licensed outdoor/mixed canopy area, and $1.45 per square foot for 2501 square feet or greater of licensed outdoor/mixed canopy area; and a gross proceeds tax of (7%) on the manufacturing of cultivated cannabis; and a gross proceeds tax of (7%) on medicinal or legal cannabis storefronts and collectives for general governmental purposes be adopted?[2]
