The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 3, 2014. Incumbent Bo Mitchell ran unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Troy Brewer was unopposed in the Republican primary. Mitchell defeated Brewer in the general election.[2][1]
