Trudi Schmidt (b. December 7, 1938) is a former Democratic member of the Montana House of Representatives, representing District 22 from 2011 to 2013. From 2008 to 2011, she served as majority whip.

Schmidt represented District 11 of the Montana State Senate from 2007 to 2009. She represented Montana State Senate District 21 from 2003 to 2005. She was also a representative for Montana House of Representatives District 42 from 1997 to 2003.

Biography

Schmidt earned her B.S. and M.S. from the University of Montana in 1961 and 1968, respectively.

Schmidt was a high school teacher for Washaugah, WA, from 1962 to 1965 and for Red Lodge, MT, from 1965 to 1966. She worked as teacher/counselor/dean of girls for Great Falls High School from 1966 to 1970. From 1972 to 1978 she was a substitute teacher for Great Falls Public School. She worked as a teacher for Great Falls College of Technology from 1978 to 1982. She also worked as program manager/counselor/caseworker for Lutheran Social Services from 1982 to 2004.

Schmidt was a delegate at the Democratic State Convention in 1996 and 1998. She has also served on the Cascade County Democratic Central Committee.

On November 2, 2010, Schmidt won election to the Montana House of Representatives. She had no primary opposition. Craig Such ran for the seat on the Republican ticket and Jonathan Martin ran for the Constitution Party. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.

2006

On November 7, 2006, Schmidt won re-election to the 11th District Seat in the Montana State Senate, defeating opponents Jonathan Martin (C) and Mike Kaszula (L).[1]
