I believe that I’m called to run for office. I believe I can do better and I’m willing to try. I'm seeking purpose in what I do for a living, and I want to know that the job I'm doing helps others.
  • I believe getting our troubled youth off the street will decrease our growing gun-violence statistics.
  • The way to reduce criminal activity is to have better-trained law enforcement among all levels.
  • I feel budgeting is going to be a top priority for the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the community.
I believe a modern climate deserves modern change. I believe that effective law enforcement involves many things and a very important aspect is training for the deputies. I think the more trained our deputies are, the more capable they will be to provide proper law enforcement for Fayette County and maintain protection for the citizens and themselves. This effort requires regular review, scheduling and appropriation of funding for the training and thus will increase the response and safety of the officers. I will always be committed to investigating child abuse, domestic violence, gun violence, elder abuse and ensuring we have enough trained deputies to respond when you need one. I will not make cuts that jeopardize public safety. Another top priority is to reach out to the County Commissioners and request the use of their auditors to review the financial status of the Sheriff’s Office. I will work with the command staff to develop a program to best meet the priorities of our community. Once that’s in place, we can focus on the budget to determine what programs need to be enhanced or removed to meet our obligations to the community. Every special project that is not supported by the mission statement/program would be placed on hold or eliminated. To be unprepared is irresponsible, and the needs of our citizens.
In this county, the sheriff's office serves as the primary collector of current-year ad valorem taxes on real and tangible properties. Collection of your property tax is one of the most important duties of office.
I have always agreed with Chief Barnard's opinion, as he stated in the mid-2000s, that Lexington doesn't need more law enforcement... "if we [did], we'd continue to grow the police department.” It makes total sense as LPD serves as the primary metropolitan police presence in Lexington. The department has grown into three different sectors, and continues to hire terrific male and female officers, employees, administration and staff. In a modern world, "Andy Griffiths" often spend more time dealing with finances than felons. I defend the argument that Fayette County Sheriff Deputies should not be out making traffic stops and securing arrests on every shift. These days, the Sheriff should spend more time 'keeping the books' rather than booking criminals -why? Because in Kentucky, sheriffs are also our tax collectors.
I have strong decision-making skills and problem-solving tactics. Communication skills, the ability to work with different people, basic leadership, and administrative skills. Through my studies in criminal justice administration, I have experience in governmental budgeting, grant funding, employment practices, tax levies, negotiating contracts, and developing long and short-term strategic plans for an agency to meet the needs of the community. With graduate studies in strategic management, and running my own successful small businesses for the past six years; I feel confident that I have the credibility, relationships and knowledge to lead this agency.
The job can be incredibly complex, involving the oversight of law enforcement across multiple jurisdictions; managing jails, which often makes them the largest provider of mental health services in the county; performing evictions; sometimes running the coroner’s office; and, at times, running search and rescue functions. According to publications by the Kentucky Legislative Research Commission, a sheriff generally spends the most time on civil duties, as opposed to criminal or law enforcement duties. In this county, the sheriff's office serves as the primary collector of current-year ad valorem taxes on real and tangible properties. Collection of your property tax is one of the most important duties of office. As over a dozen county courts are in session every day, duties include serving court documents such as criminal warrants, subpoenas and mental health petitions. The sex offender compliance unit monitors hundreds of registered sex offenders across the country. The department assists victims of domestic violence navigate the criminal justice system and provide them with local resources. The office is also charged with verifying registered addresses of convicted sex offenders within the Fayette Co. lines.
Psy - Gangnam Style. 4.3 billion, yes BILLION views this guy has on his YouTube music video. 10 years ago Psy was the man. Although dances by Usher and Chris Brown were catchy, it was brilliant on his part to bring back MC Hammer on this live performance. People around the country listened to “Happy” or “Shake It Off,” but people all over the WORLD danced to Psy’s music...and the majority had no idea what he was even saying!
As over a dozen county courts are in session every day, duties include serving court documents such as criminal warrants, subpoenas and mental health petitions. Yet few voters are aware of the duty or even who carries it out year after year.
Experience in governmental budgeting, law enforcement, grant funding, employment practices, tax levies, negotiating contracts, and developing long and short-term strategic plans to meet the needs of the community.
