Twelfth District Court appointment leaves vacancy in Alamosa County

Colorado: Earlier this month, County Court judge Michael A. Gonzales was elevated to the Twelfth District Court by Governor John Hickenlooper. That appointment left a vacancy on the Alamosa County Court, where Gonzales served for four years.[1]

Now the Twelfth Judicial District Nominating Commission is accepting applications for the seat. In order to serve on the court, one must be an elector of Alamosa County and have graduated high school or its equivalent. Once applications are screened, applicants will be interviewed by the commission. Ultimately, three nominees will be forwarded to the governor, who will appoint one judge.[2]
