Louisiana: Two Louisiana District Court candidates won runoff elections on November 19, 2011.

Clare Jupiter defeated Nakisha Ervin-Knott with 59.5% of the vote for a seat on the Orleans Parish Civil District Court. Jupiter, a lawyer of 30 years, is currently a partner of the firm of Bryan & Jupiter APLC. She specializes in education and tort defense law. The victory was likely assisted by recent ruling from the state's Judicial Campaign Oversight Committee which stated that Ervin-Knott had violated the judicial code of conduct in her campaign. Ervin-Knott had called Jupiter, her opponent, "a drunk" in a campaign commercial.[1]

In the race to replace Judge Phyllis M. Keaty on the 15th Judicial District, Susan Theall emerged victorious over opponent Kay K. Gautreaux. Theall received 59.6% of the vote. "I will try to work with the other judges of the 15th Judicial Court to improve family court and to speed up the process to allow parents to resolve their family court issues more quickly," she stated.[2][3]
