Two judges appointed to Utah's 3rd district court

Salt Lake City, Utah: On June 19, 2012 Governor Gary R. Herbert announced two new judges appointed to fill vacancies in Utah's 3rd district.[1]

Su J. Chon and James T. Blanch were named as the appointees to fill the vacancies of Judges Sandra N. Peuler and Tyrone E. Medley. Judge Peuler retired from the court in 2011.[2] Judge Medley announced his plan to retire from the court in 2012. Medley's retirement is set for June 30, 2012.[3][4]

As judicial appointees, Chon and Blanch are still subject to confirmation by the Utah State Senate.[1]

Chon is an attorney for the Office of Property Rights Ombudsman (OPRO) with the state of Utah.[1] She has a juris doctorate from Brigham Young University J. Reuben Clark Law School. Chon is also currently serving as a commissioner of the Utah State Bar.[1]

Blanch is a civil litigation attorney with Parsons Behle & Latimer and an adjunct associate professor at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law.[1] He has a juris doctorate from Harvard Law School and has served on the Utah Supreme Court Advisory Committee on the Rules of Civil Procedure since 1999 and in various roles with the Salt Lake County Bar Association.[1]

Utah's 3rd Judicial District serves Salt Lake, Summit, and Tooele counties.
