Two new candidates enter 2012 Iowa House District 64 race
September 15, 2011
DES MOINES, Iowa: On April 15, House District 64 incumbent Janet Petersen (D) announced that she will not seek re-election in 2012, rather, she will run for a seat in the state senate.[1] In the five months since the seat became available, two candidates have announced their intent to run, both in the last three days.
Des Moines Democrats Cara Kennedy-Ode and William Rock are the first to throw their hat into the 2012 District 64 ring, announcing their candidacies on September 13 and 14, respectively.[2][3]
Petersen has served 10 years in the Iowa House of Representatives, currently in her 5th term. Iowa Representatives are not subject to term limits.
