My Name is Tyler Hinman and I am running for Reno City Council Ward 2. I was Born and raised right here in Reno. I have always been very ambitious and always wanted to do better for myself and for everyone around me. I am running to make Reno a better city filled with opportunity and prosperity. I believe we need true change, new leadership and new ideas, I know we can work together and do better for everyone living in this great city. Addressing the rising cost of living, homelessness, and infrastructure are just a few of the many issues I want to tackle. I’m asking for your support and your vote so we can finally get things done in our city and bring the promise it has back. Let’s make a difference together!
  • We must tackle the issue of homelessness. There are many reasons as to why the number of homeless residents are increasing in our community. Low paying jobs, unavailable housing, and substance abuse and mental health. We must address these issues all together making sure every resource we have is put to use and to help the forgotten.
  • The cost of living has gone up dramatically in the last few years, with median home prices hovering close to $600,000 and with rent averaging almost $1,700 it’s becoming more difficult to afford to live in Reno. We must work with developers and make sure we are building housing to fill the shortage and make our neighborhoods more diverse.
  • Infrastructure is another major issue many are facing in our city. We have not been proactive in responding to the population growth in our city. As a result we are facing many issues regarding roads, traffic, sidewalks and much more. We need to invest more in our infrastructure and catch up as we have fallen behind and let our roads deteriorate.
I am passionate about conduct, racial equality, environmental and social matters, animal rights, and education, just to name a few. I believe that our education in our state is very important, we rank last in the nation and we must work with the state and school district to make sure we are doing everything to rank higher and provide our students with the education they deserve. I believe we need to protect the environment and transition into clean energy to provide clean air for our residents. I also believe we need to restore faith and trust in our elected officials and hold them accountable for their actions and make sure that our elected officials are working for their constituants and not them selves.
