Candidate Connection

Tyler Murphy participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on July 13, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Tyler Murphy's responses follow below.[4]

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

1. Expand opportunities for all children in Fayette County.

2. Protect public education and preserve local control.
3. Build community partnerships to extend learning beyond the classroom.[5][6]

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?

No other issue has more impact on our community, and our future, than public education. As both a proud teacher with eight years of classroom experience, and a graduate of our public school system, I bring lifelong passion for education and public service to my candidacy for Fayette County’s Board of Education. The insight I can offer as an educator, and my commitment to the community, will make me a valuable and passionate advocate for children on the Fayette County School Board. I have the experience, passion, and commitment to meet work for the teachers, students, and parents of Fayette County.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[6]

What is your political philosophy?

I'm committed to ensuring every child in every neighborhood receives a quality public education. [6]

—Tyler Murphy[1]

2012

In information submitted to Ballotpedia, Murphy said, "I'm running for State Representative to deliver a fresh approach & new ideas to move our region forward and to provide leadership in Frankfort to:

  • 1. Heal the wounds of the prescription drug abuse epidemic.
  • 2. Create high-wage, high-skill, 21st century jobs in our region.
  • 3. Expand resources for quality public education.

Our communities have stood stagnant for too long and without the proper leadership in Frankfort, we will continue to fall further beyond. I'm offering the leadership to finally move us into the 21st century and make our communities successful once again."[1]
