I'm a 25 year old proudly born and raised in Merrill, WI. I am running to help build a better future for District 35 and for the great state of Wisconsin. I want to bring real solutions to our real problems, and I want to ensure that the people of District 35 have their voices heard. I have the knowledge, experience, and commitment needed to start to solve our problems from day one. You can find out more and get involved on tylerruprecht.com.
  • I will bring real solutions to our real problems.
  • I will fight to build a better future for our generations and for all the generations to come.
  • I have the knowledge, experience, and commitment needed to get things done starting on day one.
There are many areas of public policy I'm interested in, but the one closest to my heart is healthcare. I lost my grandfather due to the problems with healthcare in our state, I've dealt with my own medical issues, and I've heard about the struggles of so many others in the district. When I win the 35th Assembly seat, I will be able to help pass healthcare solutions that will save lives and improve the lives of countless others.

Another issue I'm very passionate about is education. I spent years fighting to save education in our state. While in college I served as a Senator, Vice President, and President in the University of Wisconsin - Marathon County Student Government Association (SGA). During my time in the SGA I was able to work with people from across the state, of all different political affiliations and backgrounds, to fight to give our state a better future. We had many accomplishments. The most notable were saving students' rights to representation under 36.09(5) and saving the Wisconsin Idea from being removed from state law. When I'm elected, I will continue to fight for education and I will ensure that we have the education needed to make our state prosper and to leave a better future for the next generations.

There are many other policies I'm very passionate about and I know the voters care about. You can find out more about these policies on tylerruprecht.com.

I am a history buff and I look up to a variety of political and historical figures who have contributed to our nation ranging from George Washington and Thomas Jefferson to David Obey and Gaylord Nelson. A few I would like to point out are: Theodore Roosevelt who helps give me the inspiration to stay in the fight and to build a better future, Franklin Delano Roosevelt who guided us out of the Great Depression and gave us the strong economy we needed to win WWII, Eleanor Roosevelt whose passion and dedication to progressive change should be an inspiration to us all, and Martin Luther King Jr. who taught that one of the most important things you can do in life is to dedicate your self to others and to ensuring that we all receive our God given rights.

Outside of politics, the person I look up to most is my mother. She taught me the values of hardwork and commitment. She worked tirelessly to put me through Catholic school to ensure that I received a quality education and to ensure that I was raised to have strong values and good morals. She did this despite the fact that she had to raise me as a single mother. These values of hardwork and commitment will aid me in winning the 35th Assembly seat and using it to bring real solutions to our problems.
To best understand my political philosophy, I would recommend watching Ken Burn's "The Roosevelts: An Intimate History" and the TV show "Turn: Washington's Spies". They are two of my favorite series. The Roosevelts being my favorite documentary and Turn being my favorite television show. They both show valuable lessons like sacrifice, endurance, and dedication to our nation.

Beyond that I would recommend reading "Washington: A Life" by Ron Chernow, Benjamin Franklin: A Life" by Walter Isaacson, and "Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power" by Jon Meacham. These three books gave me a lot of insight into our Founding Fathers, and did a great job showing the America that they envisioned. They also showed the importance of working with others, even those you have differences with, to accomplish great things.
Our greatest challenge in the next decade will be improving and modernizing our state. This will aid our economic recovery, improve lives of our citizens, and will ensure that we leave a better future for the next generations. We will have to do this on all levels. A few examples are improving the healthcare in our rural areas, ensuring quality high speed internet access across the state, and bringing new technology and modern educational psychology into our education system.
I believe it is terribly important to build relationships with legislators from all parties. Through these relationships we can form coalitions and get quality non-partisan legislation passed.
