U.S. Appeals Judge Tacha to assume senior status

Kansas: Federal judge Deanell Tacha, of the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit, has announced that she will retire from her full-time position on the court and will assume senior status on January 27, 2011. She becomes eligible for senior status the day before, when she turns 65. She stated, “I am the most fortunate person to have had 25 years of service to his nation...And I will keep on serving.” As a senior judge, she will continue to receive her full salary.
Her departure creates a second opening on the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. President Obama will nominate Tacha's successor. She said that she planned to step down from full-time service as soon as she was eligible to do so, regardless of the political association of the President.[1]
