U.S. District Court judge chastised for dragging feet
April 5, 2010
Mississippi: In a footnote to a recent decision by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Chief Judge of the Southern District of Mississippi, Henry Wingate, has been lagging in his issuing of judgments. The footnote is in response to a particular instance where Wingate took over six years to enter a judgment in a civil case. The Circuit Court also stated that this is not the first slow judgment by Wingate and has urged him to seek help if he is having problems with issuing judgments, saying, "We once again encourage the district court to ask for assistance when it is unable to timely fulfill its judicial obligations."[1]
