Tennessee: On Thursday October 20, U.S. District Court Judge Bernice Donald was sworn in to the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. Prior to her confirmation to the court on a 96-2 Senate vote, Judge Donald served on the Western District of Tennessee, first as a federal bankruptcy judge to the court from 1988 to 1995 and then as a federal district judge. At a two hour ceremony held in the capital of Tennessee, Mayor of Memphis A C Wharton said, "They say the law is the only game where the best players get to sit on the bench. Without question, Judge Donald represents the best of us. She has endeared herself to this entire community."[1]
