Elections for all 435 U.S. House seats took place in 2024. Ballotpedia identified 52 of the 435 House races (12.4%) as battlegrounds.

These battleground races were selected using the following criteria. For more information on our methodology, click here.

  • the 2022 winner's margin of victory,
  • the results of the 2020 presidential election in the district,
  • whether the incumbent was seeking re-election,
  • whether the incumbent was serving his or her first term in Congress, and
  • how the Cook Political Report with Amy Walter, Sabato's Crystal Ball, and Inside Elections with Nathan Gonzales rated the race.

In addition to the competitiveness data above, races were included if they were particularly compelling or meaningful to the balance of power in governments for other reasons.

In 2022, Ballotpedia identified 33 U.S. House battleground races. To read more about the 2022 battleground races, click here.

Red to Blue

Candidates participating in the Red to Blue program receive financial and organizational support. Participation in the program requires that a candidate meet certain fundraising and organizational goals. This chart lists each candidate that the DCCC announced it would support via the Red to Blue program in 2024, alongside the margin of victory in each district in the 2022 congressional elections.[1] Past results in Alabama are not included for races that took place before 2023 redistricting.
