Republican primary election

The Republican primary election was canceled. Michael Charles advanced from the Republican primary for U.S. Virgin Islands Board of Education St. Thomas District.

Qualifications

Candidates for the nine elected members of the board must be:[1]

  • A U.S. citizen.
  • At least 21 years old.
  • A resident of the U.S. Virgin Islands for at least three years immediately preceding the date of the election.

Swearing-in dates

The board is composed of nine voting members. Each member serves a staggered four-year term beginning on the first Monday of January following the election. Board members are elected by voters in partisan elections in the two legislative districts: four in St. Croix elected by the qualified electors of St. Croix, four in St. Thomas elected by the qualified electors of St. Thomas, and one member to be elected at large by the qualified electors of the Virgin Islands, provided that the candidate is a resident of St. John.[1][2][3]
