During her studies, Dr. Uloma discovered her passion for law and decided to delve deeper into the field. • Advocacy to advance justice and fairness for all women of different races, culture and ethnicity. The United States has long been committed to promoting women, peace, and security. This commitment is rooted in the belief that women's meaningful participation in decision-making processes is essential for achieving sustainable peace and security. The United States strongly advocates for the inclusion of women in peace processes and conflict resolution efforts. Despite these efforts, challenges and gaps remain in the U.S. commitment to women, peace, and security. More resources and political will are needed to fully implement existing policies and ensure that women's voices are heard, and their rights protected.
  • Healthcare Policy and HealthLaw: Implementing healthcare law and policy in the states requires a multi-faceted approach. First, federal and state governments must collaborate to establish clear guidelines and regulations. State governments should then create mechanisms to enforce these policies effectively. This includes building robust healthcare infrastructure, such as hospitals, clinics, and healthcare education programs. Collaboration between government agencies, healthcare providers, and insurers is crucial for effective implementation.

Uloma Ekpete (Republican Party) is running in a special election to the U.S. House to represent Rhode Island's 1st Congressional District. She declared candidacy for the special Republican primary scheduled on September 5, 2023.

Background:

I earned an M.D. from the University of Lagos in 2005 and a graduate degree from Loma Linda University in 2013. Her career experience includes working as a physician. Ekpete has been associated with ACDIS, AHIMA, American Public Health Association, and Doctors Without Borders.

  • Strengthening the military. Rhode Island voters often say Newport RI is the sailing capital of the world. As well as being called the city by the sea it is also known as the port city. Located in southern Rhode Island, it served as a military installation over the past centuries. It is imperative to me as a candidate for Rhode Island's 1st Congressional District and for Station Castle Hill Natives to ensure the welfare of United States Coast Guard units and their families in this area. Some units and troops are non-natives. Many cities in Rhode Island have welcomed all state troops from other states. I believe military reforms designed to adopt strategies based on the goal of conquering adversities for military officers is precedent.
  • Strengthening the Economy. Most adults agree with the fact that strengthening the economy is the leading priority in the public policy agenda. The freedom and non-freedom caucus are positioned right-wing to far-right on the political spectrum, with some of the members holding right-wing populist beliefs while some others not. The FC group takes uncompromising conservative stance and favors the preservation of traditional values and beliefs. Despite sharing hardline positions on issues concerning government size with the freedom caucus republicans, I view other government policies a little differently.
  • Improving the political system of government. I think we need to look into political system reforms. Setting a debt ceiling for our political system especially within the U.S territorial states compared to U.S non-territorial states should be a leading priority. I share the same beliefs with the non-freedom caucus republicans. Although most of the 118th Congress House Freedom Caucus members and allies are more likely to come from the south and represent districts in the 16-state southern regions according to the census bureau, I think electing non-freedom caucus republican members for the north-east regions is unprecedented.

That compares with forty-six percent of all other House Republicans. Freedom Caucus members and allies are somewhat more likely than other House Republicans to be from the south-east or south-west, mid-west or entirely the west.

Demographically, the Freedom Caucus group looks much like the rest of the House GOP. Only four members and allies (8.2%) identify as a different race or ethnicity than non-Hispanic White, compared with 9.8% of other House Republicans. Seven of the caucus and its associates (14.3%) are women, versus 15% of other House Republicans. And their average is almost identical.

Representatives initiate or sponsor a bill or resolution that goes through a legislative process before passing as law. The bill is assigned to a committee for study and presented on the house floor to be voted on, debated or amended. The U.S House of Representative is unique as an institution because they play the role of introducing the bill initially before it passes to the senate floor and then to the president for signatures to become a law.

Among government initiatives aimed at defying issues concerning illegal immigration, we, Americans, believe in our immigration laws & reforms that addresses both national & border security. The United States is a nation formed on the rule of law. We are yet to agree on issues concerning immigration reforms. The initiative concerning immigration reforms is yet to receive a considerable bipartisan approval, however, there is a unanimous agreement that the system needs to ensure that people who are illegal immigrants to this country or entered the country illegally are not entitled to the same benefits as other lawful migrant citizens. All Americans, migrants and residents must abide by the law.

My campaign is focused working to build a strong US economy that creates jobs and underpins national security, highlights economic considerations in policy formulations and build relationships needed to expand commercial ties that drive the US economy. We also work to promote U.S interests in critical issues such as removing barriers to energy development & trade, and fostering US best practices regarding transparency & good governance.
I look up to some of our American Heroes. While some have served our great nation in the past, some are still currently serving our country. Their dedication & hard work has been a source of inspiration for most of us. I personally feel blessed to be among those who have been mentored by these great heroes.

A person elected to office as a US Senator represents an entire region covering so many districts. They spend their days meeting with constituents, discussing policy issues in committee meetings and making public appearances to convey their message to the public if needed. The House of Representatives passes legislation more frequently than the more deliberative Senate, so senators spend less time voting on the Senate floor and more time negotiating compromises before a bill reaches the Senate floor for a vote.

The framers originally created the Senate “to protect the rights of individual states and safeguard minority opinion in a system of government designed to give greater power to the national government.”

Core Responsibilities of the US Senator:
The core responsibilities of a US Senator include two important and specific duties.

a. Senators are empowered to conduct impeachment proceedings of high federal officials, are tasked with exercising the power of advice and consent on treaties.

b. Senators play an important role in the confirmation (or denial) of certain appointments including ambassadors and judicial court justices.
I believe I would create a lasting legacy that would affect change nationwide & also in Florida as I did back in 2019 for Health Care. I would like to see changes in our housing, labor, immigration & Florida school districts.
I became an innovator & founder of Concepts for Hospital Operations that have changed the face of healthcare here in the United States & all over the world. This Innovation is known as "The 'LIMA' Novel Concepts for Hospital Operations; Changing the Healthcare Plan". This has served millions of patients and frontline workers in healthcare & in different hospitals. Like many other US citizens, I understand what it means to give back to a country that provided me opportunities for good education & a better life. I’m running for the office of the Florida US Senate to give back to my country and to ensure that Floridians have a voice in Washington DC.

Lovers & Dreamers- By Nora Roberts.
The book was about three women who were determined to grow & fulfill their own unique destinies.
I think we have the resources and ideas to address some of the challenges that this nation may encounter over the next decade. There is more agreement on how to build a better future than evident in the media. Yet decision-making & institutional capacity so far is insufficient to make the decision fast enough & on the scale large enough to build a better future.

We would need to worry about issues like;
a. Increasing National debt.
b. Increasing Unemployment
c. Increasing Green House Gas Emission

d. National Politics with respect to School Board Politics.

A Senator must reach for noble qualities—honor, total dedication, self- discipline, extreme selflessness, exemplary patriotism, sober judgment, and intellectual honesty.
