This page is about a former federal court. For a list of active courts, see: United States federal courts.

The United States Circuit Court for the District of Pennsylvania was established as part of the Judiciary Act of 1789. It was temporarily dissolved as part of the Judiciary Act of 1801, which replaced the previous circuit court system with another, but it was restored with the repeal of that act in 1802. This circuit court was then permanently dissolved on April 20, 1818, with the division of Pennsylvania into Eastern and Western judicial districts.[1]
