The United States Circuit Court for the District of Rhode Island was established on June 23, 1790, to hear appeals from the District Court for the District of Rhode Island. It was dissolved as part of the reformation of the circuit court system by the Judiciary Act of 1801, but was restored with the repeal of that act less than a year later. It was permanently dissolved, with the rest of the circuit court system, on March 3, 1911.[1]
