The United States Circuit Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana was established on March 3, 1837. It was in existence until the abolition of the circuit court system on March 3, 1911, except for two interruptions: from 1845 to 1849 and from 1866 to 1881, Louisiana was united under one judicial district and one corresponding circuit.[1]
