The United States Circuit Court for the Southern District of Georgia was established on August 11, 1848, when the Circuit Court for the District of Georgia was permanently abolished. The Circuit Court for the Southern District of Georgia existed until the abolition of the entire circuit court system on March 3, 1911.[1]
