Usha Vance is the second lady of the United States. Her husband, Vice President J.D. Vance (R), took office on January 20, 2025.
Vance worked as a complex civil litigation lawyer for six years at Munger, Tolles & Olson.[1]
Biography
Vance was born in 1986 in San Diego, California. She received a bachelor's degree in history from Yale University, a master of philosophy degree in early modern history from Clare College, Cambridge, and a law degree from Yale University.[2][3]
After graduating from law school, Vance clerked for Judge Amul Thapar when he served on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, for Judge Brett Kavanaugh when he served on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and for United States Supreme Court Justice John Roberts.[4] Vance later worked as a complex civil litigation attorney for six years at Munger, Tolles & Olson.[1]
Personal
Vance married J.D. Vance in 2014. As of 2025, they had three children—Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.[4]
