SALT LAKE CITY, Utah: Attorney General John Swallow seeks to have a petition alleging that he violated Utah's election laws dismissed. He claims that the petition is politically motivated and has no merit.[1]
The complaint was filed last month by the Alliance for a Better Utah. The Alliance claimed that Swallow filed false campaign declaration and disclosure forms, conducted campaign activities from his state office, and used campaign funds for personal use.[1]
Two attorneys for Swallow say that the petition errs on two of its counts because it refers to people named John Swallow that are not the attorney general, "an error which was easily discoverable by a simple Google search." The attorneys went on to say, "It appears the petition may have been media and politically motivated."[1]
