The Utah County Option Initiative was on the November 3, 1992 statewide ballot in Utah, where it failed, with 39.7% of the vote. It was a citizen-initiated measure.
The ballot summary said:
"Shall a law be enacted to:
- allow the voters of each county to authorize, by a simple majority vote, pari-mutuel wagering on horse races in their county;
- create a Utah Horse Racing Commission to promote and regulate all horse racing in Utah and all pari-mutuel wagering in counties where wagering has been authorized by the voters;
- specify the distribution of monies wagered; and
- prohibit persons under 21 years of age from placing a wager?"
