Utah: For the seventh annual year, the Utah District Courts will celebrate Law Day with its Judge for a Day Program. Law Day was created in 1958 by President Eisenhower and is celebrated every May 1st. Utah's program allows high school students the opportunity to shadow a judge for one day in April or May. In order to participate, students must submit an essay on the topic "The American Jury: We the People in Action," or be recommended by a teacher.[1] The court system uses this program as a way to encourage young people's civic involvement and interest in the judiciary.
