Valerie Clay is a judge of the Iowa District Court 6. Clay assumed office in 2021. Clay's term ended in 2022.

Education
Clay earned her bachelor's degree at the University of Iowa and her law degree at the University of Maryland School of Law.[1]
Career
Prior to serving as a judge, Clay was an assistant attorney general in Linn County's Child Support Recovery Unit for seven years. She also previously worked as an assistant attorney in Linn County's juvenile division for three years and as assistant prosecutor in Linn County's criminal division for six years. Clay worked at a bankruptcy trustee office for five years. She also previously served as a residential substance abuse counselor for the Maryland Department of Corrections.[2]
