The number one, core responsibility of the person elected to this office is to represent its constituents, neighborhoods, and communities. This means have open, transparent conversations with the community, giving everyone the opportunity to weigh in on decisions, and to truly hear everyone's concerns, opinions, requests, and recommendations. The core responsibility for this person is to ensure his/her constituents are heard, have a voice in government, and are properly represented when decisions are made. Communication, transparency, trust, and "close the loop" feedback is critical in ensuring the community is heard, and the representative is properly serving his/her people.
I would like to reestablish trust between the Government and the communities its supposed to serve. I would like to bring different factions and communities together, and help everyone realize that we have more in common than not. I believe with proper communication and transparency, we can reestablish trust between a variety of different groups of people, and overtime create one community where we all work towards a common goal of making Hawaii a better, more affordable, place for all of us to live.
My very first job was working for my father's consumer electronics company. I would join him at tradeshows on the weekends and in the summer, and sell digital picture frames and at-home Karaoke machines to retail buyers 20-40 years older than me.

My first job after graduating from college was at KCET-Public Television (PBS at the time), where I served in their Membership Marketing department for almost 3 years. I was hired on as their Marketing Specialist and coordinated all member events, fundraisers, telethons, and galas for the station. My first flagship event for KCET was the West Coast premier for Ken Burns' The National Parks documentary. We brought together 2,000 KCET members at Paramount Ranch to premier the documentary with special guests Ken Burns and Huell Howser in the middle of a National Park. From there, KCET asked me to produce their Local Heroes Awards event series, where we celebrated Local Heroes representing Black History Month, Women's History Month, Asian American Pacific Islander Month, LGBTQ Month, American Indian Month, and Cultural Diversity Month.
"Start with Why" by Simon Sinek
I've learned a lot of my leadership style from Simon Sinek and believe his ideologies have helped shape many successful leaders. His general concepts of servant leadership, seeking to understand, and establishing alignment are all critical in how our officials must lead our State. If we are to challenge status quo to push for a better, stronger Hawaii, we must "Start with Why" to truly understand where we came from to know where we are going. We must first start with the Why, to get to the How, and then eventually get to the "What." So often, we want to start with the What, which is not how anyone can successfully push through effective change. Simon Sinek and his lessons have helped shape me to be the type of leader I am today.
The governor and state legislature need have a healthy, working relationship where they respect each other and can respectfully challenge ideas and disagree. With that said, the governor and state legislature should have aligned values so they can work, together, towards a common goal.
Hawaii's high cost of living which is exacerbated by Hawaii's affordable housing shortage, supply chain issues, and reliance on tourism.
I believe redistricting should be done by an independent third party with no knowledge of where any incumbents or candidates live. It should be based on natural barriers, geographic landmarks, school districts, and population.
