Valley Transit Tax Hike (February 2010)
There was a Valley Transit Tax Hike on the February 9, 2010 ballot in Walla Walla County.
This measure was approved
- YES 10,037 (76.36%)
- NO 3,108 (23.64%)[1]
This proposed tax increase will add .3 percent to the current rate of sales tax in the county. The money generated from the tax will go to maintain the public transportation system, mainly the bus system, which was facing cutbacks due to economic issues and budget downfalls. It was agreed by the board members to not take any action to cut services within the transit routes until after the February vote.[2]
