Valorie J. Vega was a judge for the Eighth Judicial District Court in Nevada. She was appointed to the court on February 21, 1999, by former Governor Kenny Guinn. Vega retired from the bench at the end of her term in January 2015.[1][2]

Education

Vega received her undergraduate degree from California State University, Northridge. She earned a graduate studies certificate in interpretation/translation from the University of California, Santa Barbara and earned her J.D. from the University of Southern California’s Law Center.[1][3]

2013 judicial performance evaluation

In 2013, the Las Vegas Review-Journal sponsored a survey of 902 lawyers who rated Nevada Supreme Court justices and judges located in Clark County. 43% of respondents voted in favor of keeping Vega on the bench. The average vote in favor of retention for all 88 judges evaluated was 71%.[4]
