Van Blanchard is a judge on the Coshocton County Court of Common Pleas Probate/Juvenile Division in Coshocton County, Ohio. He was appointed to the judgeship by Governor John Kasich in December 2011 to fill a court vacancy created by the death of Judge David W. Burns. Blanchard was later elected to the court in November of 2012 to serve out the remainder of Burns' unexpired term.[1][2] He was re-elected to the Coshocton County Court of Common Pleas Probate/Juvenile Division in 2014, winning a term that expired on February 8, 2021.[3][4]

General: He was unopposed in the general election on November 4, 2014. [4] 

2012

Blanchard was elected to the Coshocton County Court of Common Pleas. He defeated William Todd Drown in the general election on November 6, winning 58.14% of the vote.[5][6]

Education

Blanchard received both his undergraduate and J.D. degrees from the Ohio State University.[2]

Career

Prior to his appointment, Blanchard served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Coshocton County for ten years. Before that, he served as an assistant public defender for the Coshocton County Public Defender's Office and as a staff attorney for the United States Treasury.[2]
