Van McCarty is the South Carolina Adjutant General. He was appointed by Gov. Henry McMaster (R) and assumed office on February 16, 2019.[1]

McCarty spent more than 36 years serving in the U.S. military. He also served in the Law Enforcement Division with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. McCarty earned his B.S. degree from The Citadel and completed the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy.[2]

McCarty was appointed as South Carolina Adjutant General in February 2019.[2]
