Vance Dennis (b. December 9, 1975) is a former Republican member of the Tennessee House of Representatives, representing District 71 from 2008 to 2014. From the 2013 session until his departure from the House, Dennis served as Majority Floor Leader.

Biography

Dennis earned his B.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Tennessee. He went on to receive his J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law. Dennis is a practicing attorney.

Elections for 99 seats in the Tennessee House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on August 7, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 3, 2014. Incumbent Vance Dennis was defeated by David Byrd in the Republican primary. Byrd was unopposed in the general election.[1][2]

Dennis won re-election in the 2012 election for Tennessee House of Representatives, District 71. Dennis defeated Shirley Curry in the August 2 primary election and defeated John Crandall (I) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[3][4]

Dennis won re-election to the 71st District seat in 2010. He was unopposed in the August 5 primary.[5] He also faced no opposition in the general election on November 2, 2010.[6]

On November 4, 2008, Dennis won election to the 71st District Seat in the Tennessee House of Representatives, defeating opponents Stan Wheeler (D) and Stephen Childers (I).[7]

Dennis raised $129,432 for his campaign while Wheeler raised $89,500 and Childers raised $2,142.[8]
