Vandana Slatter (Democratic Party) is a member of the Washington State Senate, representing District 48. She assumed office on January 7, 2025. Her current term ends on January 12, 2026.
Slatter (Democratic Party) is running in a special election to the Washington State Senate to represent District 48. She is on the ballot in the special general election on November 4, 2025. She advanced from the special primary on August 5, 2025.
The Metropolitan King County Council appointed Slatter to the Washington State Senate District 48 on January 7, 2025, to replace Patty Kuderer.[1]
Biography
Vandana Slatter earned a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from the University of British Columbia, a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Washington, and a Master of Public Administration from the Evans School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington. Her career experience includes working as a licensed pharmacist and clinical scientist. She previously served as a Bellevue city councilmember.[2]

A special election for the position of Washington House of Representatives District 48-Position 1 was called for November 7, 2017. A primary election took place on August 1, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was May 19, 2017.[3]
The seat was vacated by Patricia Kuderer (D) after she was appointed to District 48 of the Washington State Senate. Vandana Slatter (D) was appointed to fill the vacancy until the November election.
Incumbent Vandana Slatter (D) and Ciaran Dougherty (L) ran in the top-two primary.[4] Slatter defeated Dougherty in the November 7 general election.
