The recall petition filed against Washoe County, Nevada Commissioner Vaughn Hartung (R) in February was withdrawn on March 25, 2022.[1] There was no formal reason given for the recall.[2] Hartung defeated Marie Baker (D) with 58.3% of the vote in the November 2020 general election.
Recall supporters
The recall petition was signed by two officials in the Washoe County Republican Party: Vice-Chair Cindy Martinez and Treasurer Sandra Linares.[2]
Martinez and Linares ultimately withdrew the petition on March 25, 2022.[1]
Recall opponents
Hartung gave the following statement in response to the petition:
“ | I was surprised to learn that three voters, with the help of their Las Vegas lawyers, have signed a notice of intent to circulate a petition to recall my election. The petition doesn’t identify any reason attempting to overturn the will of tens of thousands of voters, nor does any exist.[2][3] | ” |

Recall supporters had 90 days from the date the petition was filed to gather the 14,345 necessary signatures, but the petition was withdrawn prior to the deadline.[2][1]
