The Venezuala Presidential Term Limits Referendum was on the ballot for February 15, 2009, in Venezuala. The ballot measure was approved. [1] The ballot measure received 54.4% of the vote.[2]

The ballot measure was an amendment to the Venezuelan Constitution that abolished the limit on presidential terms, as well as those for other political offices.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez supported the amendment, saying, "There’s still much to do. I need more time. I need your vote." Chávez would have had to leave office in 2013 based on the pre-referendum term limits.
