|- HIGH FOOD COST! Every community deserves effective representation, rather than pandering to endorsers. Our community remains disenfranchised and marginalized, as citizens choose between feeding their family and paying rent/mortgage. The economy makes it challenging with a need for a lifeline, like increased compensation! The data shows average monthly grocery bill is at $486 - due to high cost of living; assumed delivery difficulties; fees from credit card companies; inflation; profit margins, etc. I pledge to hold entities accountable for unfair practices like price gouging; help promote agriculture industry competition; seek to ensure the gov't increase food assistance for low-income; strengthen supply chains to lower food prices.
- AFFORDABLE RESIDENTIAL/COMMERCIAL/ HOMEOWNERSHIP is scarce! Reducing affordable rentals shortage, prevents loss of existing affordable housing. I pledge to hold developers and the govt accountable in making housing “truly” affordable by assisting in abolishing urban growth boundaries and other restrictions; help slow inflation, rising insurance, taxes; address the migrant crisis; help those who truly can’t afford housing using vouchers, rather than subsidies that primarily enrich developers, seek Low-Income Tax Credit Program/federal Housing Choice Vouchers-subsidizing private rental housing; improve Low-income Housing Tax Credit Program; work to remove barriers to homeownership with Down-payment assistance for first-time homebuyers, etc.
- HEALTH and SAFETY emerges as critical elements influencing the quality of life for New Yorkers. Access to affordable and quality healthcare is increasingly out of reach for working families, veterans, and seniors. This poses significant risks to public health and safety, particularly in terms of mental well-being. We can enhance healthcare access through initiatives for affordable mental health services; maximize effectiveness of community outreach programs through milestone evaluations; address health disparities with targeted strategies; invest in preventive healthcare; improve access to quality care in underserved neighborhoods; focus on social determinants of health like housing insecurity and poverty for a safer community.
As a Psychologist, my career has been dedicated to uplifting and empowering others, championing fairness and equity within my community, and much more. I have consistently been present during crucial moments, sharing in both the struggles and victories of those around me. My experiences have given me a deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of my community. I take great pride in my contributions, and I believe that these qualities will further guide my effectiveness and impactfulness for successful outcomes as an officeholder.
