The Vermont Statewide Referendum: Prohibiting the Sale of Intoxicating Liquor, also known as Act 171 of 1915, was on the 1916 ballot in Vermont as a legislatively referred state statute. Though the referendum was defeated, a national prohibition was later enacted on January 19, 1919. Vermont was not a ratifying vote.[1]
