Vernida Chaney is a judge of the Virginia Court of Appeals. Chaney assumed office on September 1, 2021. Chaney's current term ends on August 31, 2029.

The Virginia General Assembly elected Chaney to the court on August 10, 2021, to fill a seat created by Senate Bill 1261, which increased the court from 11 to 17 judges.[1][2]

Chaney earned a B.A. in sociology and African American studies from the University of Virginia, an M.B.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a J.D. from Howard University School of Law.[3]
