This measure sought to add to the current police levy with one set at a rate of $.10 per $100 of assessed property value for one year in order to continue to pay for police salaries and vehicle maintenance costs in the village.[2]
Text of measure
The question on the ballot:
An additional tax for the benefit of Village of Verona, for the purpose of paying the salaries of permanent police personnel, including the payment of the police officer employers’ contribution required under Section 742.33 of the Revised Code or providing and maintaining motor vehicles, communications, and other equipment used directly in the operation of a police department in the Village of Verona, at a rate not exceeding one (1) mill for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to ten cents ($0.10) for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for one (1) year, commencing in 2011, first due in calendar year 2012.[3] |
