Political Encyclopedia Adds Expert in Presidential Politics
Madison - May 22, 2015: Ballotpedia.org announced today that veteran journalist Jim Barnes has joined its roster of reporters and writers. Barnes brings a wealth of experience to Ballotpedia, having covered every presidential election since 1984 for organizations like CBS and the National Journal. Barnes also currently serves on the CNN “Decision Desk” for its election and primary night coverage.
“We are so excited to have a writer of Jim’s caliber on staff,” said Leslie Graves, publisher of Ballotpedia.org. “His experience, creativity and credibility are an amazing addition to our growing organization.”
Barnes brings with him an in-depth knowledge of polling, having previously served as founding editor of the National Journal Political Insiders Poll and co-author of “Public Opinion among Political Elites: The Insiders Poll as a Research Toll” in The Forum: A Journal of Applied Research in Contemporary Politics.
Ballotpedia.org is an encyclopedia of American politics that covers all three branches of government at the local, state and federal levels. In 2014, it expanded to add a policy desk, and in 2015, the organization will be launching an influencers desk that will add about 1,500 articles a year about the behind-the-scenes movers and shakers in the political sphere.
“I became familiar with Ballotpedia from my work on the CNN Decision Desk, calling the 2014 mid-term elections. I, along with my Decision Desk colleagues, found Ballotpedia to be a very reliable and useful compilation of election and candidate-related data,” Barnes said. “I am looking forward to helping the talented and energetic team at Ballotpedia create a robust and compelling source of information on the 2016 campaign.”
